Lavender, Lavender, Lavender

I am not sure if I can ever get enough lavender!  But actually my 500 plants of Grosso Lavender are more than I can ever harvest in the short window of opportunity.  Right now is the perfect time to cut the lavender, make bunches, and hang to dry.   In a few days, the lavender will be overly mature for bunches, but actually can still be used for making oil and sachets.  Fresh lavender will be available this week only.  But we have dried bunches all year round.

Another Year Closes

The end of another growing season leaves us with mixed emotions.  This year's heat gave us many growing disappointments, but also produced this large, lovely pumpkin.  Many thanks to all my loyal customers who come great distances just to find the perfect pumpkin!  Among our woes this year were the raspberries which didn't like the constant intense heat and so shut down early in August.  Four rows of corn, a row of sunflowers, a row of butternuts and most of our watermelons and many planted pumpkins were delicious meals for the wildlife.  Ah, alas, but next year it begins again.... well, if I muster up the courage.

PUMPKINS -  It's THAT time of year again!  We began selling pumpkins last weekend.  We don't have as many as we have had in past years.... so first come, first serve!  The raspberries shut down in mid August because of the unrelenting and intense heat of July.  Sorry there are none to pick 😒.  We also have NO apples this year.... another 😞.  But the weather has been beautiful and will be great this weekend (September 30 and October 1).  I DO have lavender bunches and lavender oil.... 😊  Hope to see you soon!   💓💛💜

Lavender Harvest:  July 1 - 9 we will be harvesting lavender.  Fresh lavender will be available during that time.  Dried lavender bunches will be available after that and all year. 
Raspberries:  Raspberries are beginning to show a blush of red in the bushes so there are berries to pick but not plentiful yet.  Still hunting for berries is rewarding.

We still have berries to pick and I have sunflowers until they are gone.  Tomatoes are and will continue to be in great supply.  

Status of Raspberries

The berries are still a lot smaller than they were two weeks ago, but there are berries out there to pick.  My nieces picked two boxes in a short amount of time yesterday afternoon.

So the berries are in a lull right now.  We will continue to have berries…. because we have always had, berries through October.  It is just that weather, conditions and amount of people picking (or not picking) will result in a fluctuation of production.

We currently also have a ton of tomatoes at the store front and we always have lavender bunches.  Later we should have squashes and corn and perhaps green beans.  Near the end of September we will also have apples after two years of no apples and at the same time we will have pumpkins.

Mid-July brings us Raspberries and Lavender at Dries Farms.  This marks the beginning of the "harvest" which will last through October.  We began picking raspberries 3 weeks ago and the raspberries are crying out..... WE NEED YOU!!  These lovely berries only stay around as long as they get picked everyday.  The best times to pick are early in the morning and late afternoon in order to miss the blazing sun... wear sturdy shoes and a hat.  

The Lavender is beautiful this year and is available now and throughout the year.  

Closed  - Dries Farms is closed until next July.  Raspberries start in mid-July.  I do have lavender products and lavender oil all year round.  For more information, call, txt or email.  See you next year.

PUMPKINS ARE HERE!!

Beginning Saturday September 19, we will be selling pumpkins.  They won't last long because as the crop was like everything else this year..... a disappointment.  Except the raspberries are still producing berries which is a good thing.  See you at the farm!

We have been open for raspberry picking since last weekend.  The raspberries look fantastic right now and we really need the berries picked so we can have berries through October!  We are open 24/7!

RASPBERRIES are a little earlier this year

Due to the mild winter and spring, we are beginning to pick raspberries a week or two earlier than normal.  We will open soon for UPick Raspberries.  We can't always guarantee that there will be berries to pick when you come because it is dependent on how many people come to pick berries in any given day.  Best times to pick are in the cool early morning and early evening.

CINDERELLA PUMPKIN

PUMPKINS ALREADY...... and APPLES

Pumpkins are about three weeks early this year.  So think cold and Fall and Halloween. This year we have Cinderella pumpkins, pie pumpkins, white pumpkins, mini pumpkins and jack o'lantern pumpkins.  Com get your pumpkins early.  They will last a long time as long as you don't cut them and also keep them in a coolish place out of the sun.  We are also beginning to pick apples.... also early.  We will not be having Upick until September 15-20?  It all depends on how they ripen.  We will have some golden delicious apples that will be for sale at the store already picked. Raspberries continue to produce berries for picking.  And of course I always have lavender and associated items.  See you at the store!

SUPER SWEET BICOLOR CORN

We had some of this corn for dinner tonight and it was amazing.  Come and get some.  It will be available until September 1 or 2.

GALA APPLES....
...will be available for the next two weeks.  These are not UPick, but will be sold in pre-packaged bags in front of the store.

They're Back!! Raspberries, that is.

Raspberries are ready to pick.  The more that are picked now, the more that we will have later in the season.  So pick away!  There are oodles.  Bring a container or two or three.  Wear study shoes and a hat.  Bring gloves.  If you would rather pick in the early morning or evening that is fine.  Since I don't really have the store open yet, give me a call or a text when you are on your way or when you arrive.  Thanks.  Margaret (661-444-08354)

We will open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting this Friday (Septemper 20).  We will be there until we are sold out so come on down all you pumpkin, fall and Halloween lovers!!  We are also open randomly during the week so call if you are coming.  Usually I can show up at a moments notice.

PUMPKINS AND APPLES!!
   These are truly the sign that fall has arrived.  I was beginning to wonder if it would ever get here as the hot temps have been with us constantly since mid-July with no significant relief.  But today the cool, brisk air spurs me to action to see that I am ready for the coming month.  I look forward to all of you Fall Lovers coming to get apples and pumpkins.  But don't overlook the great winter squash that we have:  Butternut, Acorn and my favorite, Kabocha.  Our supply of tomatoes is overflowing and probably will be for a while as our 50 foot green house is lined with tomato plants laden with green tomatoes.
